Simple, honest-to-god, hearty home-cooking is widely available in Los Molinos. Hiedra and Colorín are favorites of mine. They both offer a great prix fixe deal at lunchtime. Colorín is where the workers go to recharge their batteries. Great atmosphere. Hiedra is smarter, but still unpretentious. In the summer the Hiedra terrace is delightful.

For a drink and some tapas there's a huge choice. Incredibly, there are more than twenty bars in this tiny town. And this is tapas territory. If you buy a drink you get a small tapa for free, no questions asked. In the summer the main square becomes a sea of tables and chairs from the surrounding bars. Casa Santoña has excellent smoked and salted fish.

The local microbrewery, el Taller de la Cerveza, is also a very pleasant place.

If you want to take something home go to any of the three bakeries baking their own bread every morning, or to the excellent butchers, selling heavenly local beef. Los Molinos even has its own gin distillery. Who could ask for more.

Baked beans, I guess.
